If your vet has diagnosed your dog with gastroenteritis, this means they're suffering from inflammation of their stomach and intestines. It's one of the most common conditions that vets deal with, and can be caused by a variety of things, such as:
- an infection with bacteria
- new foods
Though our freshly prepared, gently cooked meals are easy to digest, some dog's stomachs aren't used to fresh ingredients which is why we always recommend a slow transition over to Butternut, particularly if your dog has been eating a commercial diet.
If your dog is recovering from gastroenteritis it might be worth waiting until they're 100% back to feeling themselves again before making a change to their diet - their digestion is going to be very delicate still. Offer them lots of fresh water while they get better, and when they're back to themselves you can start a very slow transition over to Butternut.
