The good news is that almost all of our packaging is recyclable, re-usable or biodegradable.
Do feel free to feed your recycling bin with our packaging - our boxes are made with recycled materials and can be popped straight in bin after you’ve unpacked them. The ice packs can be reused time and time again for things like packed lunches or to nurse an achy head (pub or non-pub induced); what’s in the ice packs is just good old fashioned water. If you would rather drain these and pop the plastic into the recycling too, that's no problem at all.
The Woolcool insulation is made from sheep’s wool and is 100% biodegradable so you can re-use it around the home or pop it into compost. Some of our pup-parents have used it for the following:
- Plant insulation;
- Shed insulation;
- Dog bed insulation;
- Any insulation they can think of;
- Birds nests;
- Make cuddly toys.
If you wanted to throw the WoolCool out with your household rubbish (after taking off the plastic film) it won't add to landfill as it will biodegrade. The fab news is that we’re working on a Woolcool collection scheme so that you can return these sheets to us for re-use, but this isn't quite ready for launch just yet.
At the moment, the only thing that's isn’t recyclable are the pouches the meals are frozen in. The reason for this is that we need the material around the food to be able to stand up to being vacuum-packed, heated, cooled and frozen, and stay strong while being moved around and transported. So far we haven't been able to find a recyclable/biodegradable solution but we will keep on researching - we'd love to move entirely away from using plastic where possible in our production process, so watch this space.
