Guidance to Help You Safely Store Your Dogs Butternut and Keep Their Meals Fresh

How to store our meals safely

Butternut meals are delivered frozen and need to be kept in either the freezer or the fridge.

Pouches can be kept unopened in the freezer for up to a year, or a week in the fridge (two days once opened). We recommend popping opened pouches in Tupperware for freshness.

Keeping a few pouches in the fridge means you'll always have food defrosted and ready to go for your dog's meals, and you can simply swap a new pouch into the fridge from the freezer as you use them.

How long does it take to defrost Butternut meals?

It takes roughly 24 hours for our smaller pouches (125g, 200g, 300g) to defrost in the fridge, and at least 36 hours for our larger pouches (400g, 500g, 600g).

For a Butternut delivery, you'll need space equivalent of two to three loaves of bread in your freezer. A great excuse to finish that ice cream.

What to do if you are struggling with freezer space?

If you're worried about having enough freezer space you can always change your plan so that you're receiving fewer pouches per delivery, or a smaller pouch size so they're easier to store.
