Keeping Your Pup's Details Up to Date and Ensuring Their Recommendations Work for Them

Updated over 2 weeks ago

One of the best things about Butternut is that our tasty meals are ideal for all dog ages, which means your pooch can stay on the same diet from a puppy right through to their senior years.

The reason we are able to do this is because Butternut is a complete diet and contains all the vitamins and nutrients a dog needs to stay happy and healthy. We then use our feeding guidelines (which have been specially developed by our team of leading pet nutritionists) to determine how much food each individual dog is recommended. We have two separate feeding guidelines: one for puppies (which covers up to 18 months) and one for adults.

Puppies need extra calories to support their growth and ensure they get big and strong - this means extra Butternut in their bowls. Growth rate can vary between breeds, but generally speaking most dogs reach their adult weight between 12 and 18 months. Once they are fully grown it's likely they'll need fewer calories to maintain their body condition which can mean they need a smaller pouch size. Because of this it's not unusual to see a decrease in their recommended portion around this age, even if they weigh more than they did before.

If you would like to speak about your puppy's weight or portion size you can always reach out to us and our team will be happy to help. We also have an in-house Vet Nurse team on hand who you can book a call with.
