We deliver our meals to hundreds of dogs whose owners recognise them as having sensitive digestions, and we hear that they're doing really well. In particular, pet parents talk about solid improvements seen in dogs with loose poops. Our chicken, turkey, game and veggie recipes are gently cooked and contain less than 6% crude fat, making them gentle on sensitive stomachs. They’re also nutritionally complete, so you can feel confident your dog is getting a delicious meal that meets all their daily nutritional needs.
Transitioning for Sensitive Stomachs
While we have no doubt your pooch will want to dive straight into a full bowl of Butternut, slow and steady win the race here. We'd suggest that you take it extra slowly with transitioning your dog over to Butternut to help avoid any stomach upsets, particularly if they've been eating a commercial, dry or wet diet. Start with just a spoonful of Butternut mixed with your dog’s current food, and increase by a spoonful each day over 10–14 days, gradually reducing their old food.
Consistency is key! Start with one leaner recipe, as sticking to a single meal helps maintain consistency for sensitive tummies. Splitting their daily portion into 4–5 smaller meals during this transition period can also help support digestion.
Additionally, warming our recipes in the microwave for 20 seconds can bring them to a tummy-friendly temperature and further aid digestion.
If you notice your dog is experiencing a bit of a tummy upset, try going back a step or two on your transition for a few days until your pup is back to normal. Be sure to offer plenty of fresh water, too.
