What makes our meals different?

When our Co-Founders Kev and Dave started Butternut, they wanted to create a dog food that was not only healthy, but that dogs were excited to eat.

We make our meals with human quality ingredients and they're freshly prepared just like you would at home. This means each of our recipes look, taste and smell just like human food. 

A lot of fussy dogs don't want to eat their meals because they can smell something tastier on mum or dad's plate. But with Butternut, their meals will smell every bit as good so they won't feel like they're missing out.

Top tip: Pop the meal in a microwavable dish and warm it up for approximately 30 seconds to really get the aromas going

Good enough to eat (literally)

We run taste-test trials of every new recipe. That includes human trials and dog trials, meaning yes you guessed it - we eat the food ourselves.

All of our recipes have been tasted and approved by the team, and we run weekly taste-test panels with a selection of meals from every batch we make just to be certain they are up to standard. You can read more about this here. 

Variety is the spice of life

We currently have 11 tasty recipes to choose from, including vegetarian meals, plus plenty of low fat options. 

No-one wants to eat the same thing every day, so you can select a mix of recipes for your dog's box so that they always have something new to look forward to. 

We also have a range of delicious treats and extras to complement the meals. Pet parents of fussier pups recommend mixing a splash of Bish Bash Broth into the recipes, or crumbling some Naturally Tasty Treats on top for added crunch. 

Flexible subscription 

We know that sometimes fussy dogs just want a change, and that's absolutely fine.

It's super easy to stop your subscription and you can do this at any time. Then when you're ready to come back all you need to do is click a button to reactivate. 

Alternatively, you can order one-off boxes as and when you need them.
