Nourishing Your Pup: Advice for Dogs with Addison’s

Updated over a month ago

Addison's disease, also known as hypoadrenocorticism is caused by decreased hormone production from the adrenal glands. The glands produce two hormones; cortisol, a stress hormone, and aldosterone which regulates the levels of sodium and potassium. Sodium and potassium levels are important for maintaining the body’s fluid balance.

It is possible to successfully treat this condition through medication and steroids. Whilst a change in diet isn’t essential, we think that a good quality diet is always a great place to start. Our meals are freshly prepared and cooked like you would at home. This means that they're gentle on the stomach and easy to digest. They’re also 100% nutritionally complete, so with Butternut you'll know your dog's getting everything they need as well as enjoying their dinner.
