In the first box of meals that we send, we'll include some info about getting your pooch used to a freshly prepared, gently cooked diet. They may need a few days (or sometimes a bit longer) to adjust to the new ingredients, flavours and textures - there's lots that goes on in the stomach when a dog's regular diet is changed. It's likely they'll want to dive right into a whole bowl of Butternut, but taking things slowly to start with massively reduces the risk of any stomach upsets.
We'd suggest feeding your dog a very small amount of Butternut initially (a few spoonfuls), mixed in with what they're currently eating. You can gradually increase the amount of Butternut each day, and if your dog has any runny poops then it's often a sign that they need to take things a little slower. Some dogs can take a week or more to move over to Butternut completely, so it's totally fine to go at your own pace here, swapping out their old food as you go until they're on their full plan. Our chicken, turkey, game, plant, and veggie meals are the gentlest on digestion, so these are usually the best recipes to begin the transition with.
Please note these are feeding guidelines only. We understand you know your pooch best so it's totally understood that you may need to make some changes to suit them.
