Removing a Dog from Your Plan

How to Adjust Your Subscription and Access Support

Updated over 3 weeks ago

A Gentle Note Before We Begin

We know that, depending on the situation, removing a dog from your Butternut Box plan can be an emotional step. Whether you're experiencing the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a beloved companion, or your family circumstances have changed, we want you to know you’re not alone.

If you'd prefer a member of our team to make this change for you, we're more than happy to help. You can find ways to reach us here.

How to Remove a Dog from Your Account

You can remove a dog from your plan using your Butternut Box account, either online or through the app.

Steps to Remove a Dog:

  1. Go to the ‘My Dogs’ section of your account.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

  3. Click the ‘Remove Profile’ button beneath the dog you wish to remove.

  4. You'll then be asked to select the applicable option and confirm.

What Happens Next?

What follows will depend on whether you have other dogs remaining on your account:

  • If you have other dogs on your account:
Once, you have completed the steps, you can then return to review you plan and adapt it to suit your remaining dog's needs. This allows you to keep your subscription active and tailored

  • If this is your only dog on the account:
Once you remove them from the account, you will be advised that we will now initiate a pause on your subscription. Please ensure you click the red button to ‘Confirm’ to enable us to action this on your behalf.

Once removed:

  • Their details will be securely recorded on the account but their profile will no longer be visible within your account.

  • Should the change be a temporary option for you, you will be able to change this again later with our support. For example, if you decided to temporarily remove them from your account whilst they are on a specialised veterinary diet. Unless your account is entirely deleted, our CL team will still be able to access details of an archived dog to enable you to reverse these changes.
